S'lichot, Installation, and More!

Shabbat Ki Teitzei
September 13-14, 2019 - 14 Elul, 5779

Our Shabbat service on Friday night, September 13 will begin at 8:00 p.m. Bagel breakfast on Saturday, September 14, will begin at 9:30 a.m. Our Shabbat Shaharit service will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by Kiddush lunch and High Holy Days Tune-Up, an opportunity to practice tunes we'll engage with on Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur.

Thank you to Rabbi Feivel Rubinstein for reading Torah this weekend!

Candle lighting will be on Friday night at 7:05 p.m., and Shabbat will end when three stars appear in the sky at 7:59 p.m on Saturday.

It's never too early to plan for Sukkot!
On the holiday of Sukkot, part of our celebration involves holding a lulav (palm frond), an etrog (citrus fruit), aravot (willow branches), and hadassim (myrtle branches). In just a couple of weeks, orders are due for obtaining your own four species (arba minim) in time for Sukkot. This year, kids' sets will be $30, adult Standard sets will be $35, and adult Quality sets will be $40. The difference between qualities of sets depends on the appearance of the etrog - the cleaner and bumpier the etrog, the higher the price.

If you're feeling particularly luxurious, you may order a Prime ($45), Deluxe ($55), or Superior ($60) set.

Please contact our office to place an order.

S'lihot and Havdalah - Saturday, September 14, 8:00 p.m.
We'll sing, pray, and learn together, in preparation for the forgiveness we strive for on the High Holy Days.

Installation for Rabbi Sydni Rubinstein - Sunday, September 15, 7:00 p.m.

For the Kids
Please let the office know if you need childcare during the High Holy Days! We will have family services on Day 1 of Rosh HaShanah, as well as on Yom Kippur morning.

Religious school will be on Sunday, September 15 at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesday, September 18 at 4:30 p.m.

A group of students is going to visit the Agudath Achim cemetery on Sunday morning, September 15. If you have friends or relatives buried there and want to share their stories with the children or just want to help out with their volunteer project, please let Barbara know at bjoseph318@gmail.com.

Learning to Leyn - Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m.

Intro to Hebrew - Thursdays, 11:00 a.m.

Biblical Hebrew with Rabbi Jana - Thursdays, 6:00 p.m., B'nai Zion

Rabbi's Notes
I will be out of town on Shabbat, September 20-21. Please let me know if you have any interest in writing a D'var Torah (a short sermon) or presenting a reading on the theme of the weekly Torah portion in my absence.
